Atrium standard app licence

This licence, effective from 8th October 2026,  applies when you install a third-party app from Atrium, the COHO app store, and the developer hasn’t provided their own licence terms. It’s between you, the COHO account holder who installs the app (“you”), and the developer of that app (“the developer”).

Every developer who uses this licence has agreed to it in advance, through their Atrium developer agreement with COHO. You accept it when you install their app.

The developer’s handling of personal data is covered separately by the Atrium standard app data processing agreement. If anything in this licence conflicts with that agreement, that agreement wins.

What you can do with the app

The developer gives you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app:

  • for your own business, through your COHO account;
  • for the people you give access to your COHO account, such as your staff;
  • for as long as the app is installed and, for a paid app, your subscription is active.

What you can’t do

You must not:

  • copy, modify or create other works from the app, except as the app itself allows;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or take apart the app, except where the law gives you a right to;
  • sell, rent, sub-license or share the app with anyone outside your business;
  • get around any limits, security measures or payment features in the app;
  • use the app to break the law or COHO’s acceptable use policy.

Who owns what

The developer, or their licensors, own the app and all intellectual property in it. This licence doesn’t transfer ownership of anything to you.

You own your data. The developer has no rights to it except to provide the app to you, as set out in the Atrium Standard App Data Processing Agreement.

Paying for the app

If the app is paid, you buy it from COHO, not from the developer. Prices, billing, cancellation and refunds are covered by the Atrium terms.  The developer can’t charge you directly for the app, or for anything bought inside it.

Updates

The developer may update the app to fix problems, improve it or keep it secure. If an update removes a feature you rely on, the developer must tell you in advance through the app or its listing.

If an update needs new permissions to access your data, you’ll be asked to approve them. If you don’t, the app may stop working fully, and you can uninstall it.

Support

The developer supports the app. Their support contact is on the app’s listing. They’ll respond to support requests within a reasonable time.

What the developer promises

The developer promises that:

  • the app will work materially as described on its listing;
  • they have the right to license the app to you;
  • the app doesn’t contain viruses, malware or anything designed to harm your systems or data;
  • they’ll take reasonable steps to keep the app secure.

If the app doesn’t work as described, the developer will fix it within a reasonable time. If they can’t, you can contact COHO for a refund under the Atrium terms.

If someone claims the app infringes their rights

If someone claims that your use of the app, in line with this licence, infringes their intellectual property rights, the developer will defend you against the claim and pay any damages or costs awarded against you.

You must tell the developer promptly about the claim, let them control its defence, and give them reasonable help, at their cost.

The developer may also change the app so it no longer infringes, get the rights for you to keep using it, or, if neither is reasonably possible, remove the app. COHO will then refund any fees you’ve paid for the period after removal.

Liability

The developer isn’t responsible for:

  • indirect or consequential loss;
  • loss of profit, revenue, business or goodwill.

The developer’s total liability to you under this licence, in any 12-month period, is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 12 months before the event that caused the claim. For a free app, it’s limited to £1,000.

These limits don’t apply to:

  • breaches of the Atrium standard app data processing agreement, or of data protection law;
  • the developer’s promise to defend you against intellectual property claims;
  • death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else the law doesn’t allow to be limited.

When this licence ends

This licence ends when:

  • you uninstall the app;
  • your subscription to a paid app ends;
  • the app is removed from Atrium;
  • your COHO account closes.

The developer may also end it if you seriously break it and don’t put things right within 14 days of being told.

When it ends, you must stop using the app. What happens to your data is covered by the Atrium standard app data processing agreement.

COHO’s role

COHO runs Atrium and sells paid apps to you, but it isn’t a party to this licence. COHO isn’t responsible for the app itself, except as set out in the Atrium terms.

COHO may enforce this licence against the developer on your behalf, under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

Changes to this licence

COHO may update this licence from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it was last changed. Changes don’t reduce your rights for any period you’ve already paid for.

Law

This licence is governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
